Birth doulas are focused on supporting parents during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate aftermath. The primary goal is to help them achieve the birth they desire and provide support during these times. Usually, a birth doula visits once or twice after birth to discuss how it went.
Postpartum doulas are focused on the aftermath of birth and helping care for parents and babies. These doulas can perform a variety of household tasks, like baby laundry or meal prep, as well as take care of the baby for short periods. They may also focus on mental health in the postpartum period and helping parents make this transition.
Many doulas are both birth and postpartum doulas, allowing them to offer the full spectrum of support. The two roles are complementary. Bailey and Gail offer both, providing a continuity of care.
