Meet your cosmic tree Doula

Bailey Baldwin CD-L

Hey pregnant people!

I am so overjoyed to be joining you on this journey. I offer birth and postpartum doula care. I have completed training for each area through DONA and I am currently working towards certification. I have crossed trained for enhanced labor skills through ProDoula and have become certified for labor. I began my career as a nurse working in neonatal and pediatrics. I have loved that world and often found my favorite moments to be helping parents care for there little one. The parent-child bond is so incredible and giving you the tools to foster that relationship is an honor.

"I had the incredible privilege of having Bailey assist me during my postpartum stage, and I cannot emphasize enough how invaluable her support was. Bailey went above and beyond in every aspect, seamlessly managing everyday tasks like cleaning and tidying up, ensuring a smooth environment for our growing family.

What truly set Bailey apart was her genuine concern for my well-being as a mother. From diligently refilling my water bottle to handing me my baby to facilitate breastfeeding, she displayed a level of attentiveness that is often overlooked in postpartum care. Her thoughtful questions about my emotional and physical state reassured me that someone was looking out for me, not just as a parent but as an individual navigating the profound changes that come with motherhood.

Her unwavering support postpartum has convinced me that she will be an essential part of my future birthing experiences. I wholeheartedly recommend Bailey to anyone seeking compassionate and comprehensive postpartum care. Her dedication and genuine concern makes her an invaluable asset during the delicate and transformative period following childbirth."

I was hesitant at first about hiring a doula because I wasn’t exactly sure what a doula was, and how helpful or impactful they would be. Boy, was I silly for having any doubts. My sister helped us find Bailey and she told me that she’d trust Bailey with her life. Such a high compliment, for such an important and large life event.

From the moment we first met with Bailey, we knew she was the perfect match for us. The way that she intently listened to us and took note of all of our questions and concerns, was unbelievable. Throughout my entire pregnancy and into the labor, I was very nervous for plans to change, and of course they did. Bailey was there to ask questions that we didn’t even know we had, advocated for us, even braided my hair to make me feel like a human again. The way she goes above and beyond is unmatched.

When things went south, she reassured us that however our it happens, we still get our baby in the end. Before, during and even after we got home, she was always checking in to see how we were doing, and asking us if she could help us find resources close to where we live. Looking back now, I cannot imagine going through this without her.

With this being our first baby, it was also great having her there for education purposes and talking about all the options and choices we have. Bailey will forever hold a special place in our family, and we are eternally grateful for her guidance and support. We look forward to hiring her again for any and all future births we go through.

To anyone who is hesitant or wanting to learn more about how valuable having Bailey involved in your pregnancy and birth, you are in the best, most caring hands out there. She truly is there through every happy and crappy that comes with the physical, mental, and emotional body changes.

I couldn’t have asked for a better doula! I hired Bailey towards the very end of my pregnancy because I started to get a little nervous about having a non medicated labor in a hospital. Bailey was warm, knowledgeable, and so supportive throughout my pregnancy and especially my labor and delivery. I was in labor for 52 hours and Bailey was asking me to come the entire time I finally broke and needed support to get through and she stayed with me for over 24 hours helping me every step of the way. I wouldn’t have been able to do a non medicated labor without her! She’s the best, no hesitation!

Labor involves a cascade of hormones. These hormones, when the birthing person remains calm and feels safe, can create a smooth labor process. The birth team and environment can support this by helping the birthing person feel loved, cared for. When fear creeps in, the catecholamines work in opposition to the oxytocin. The catecholamines can come from many things like unresolved fears or concerns, a strange environment, past trauma, a change in circumstance. Also of note, when labor is induced or augmented with a synthetic form of oxytocin, like Pitocin, the body may experience an increased pain sensation. Since the Pitocin was not produced by the body, it does not cross the blood brain barrier in the same way. This affects how the body responds with endorphins, which may lead to a need for increased external pain relief. Birth is unpredictable, but the innate trust in the birthing person's abilities, the birth process and the support of the birth team can lead to incredible experiences.
